Daku Maharaj OTT Release Delayed: Balakrishna Adheres to Industry Norms

Nandamuri Balakrishna's blockbuster film Daku Maharaj made a grand entry during the Sankranthi festival, amassing over ₹150 crores at the box office. While its theatrical run has concluded in several regions, fans are eagerly anticipating its OTT release. Meanwhile, Game Changer, starring Ram Charan, has already begun streaming, and Venkatesh's Sankranthiki Samaraam is expected to arrive on OTT within the next couple of days. However, Daku Maharaj appears to be taking a longer route to digital platforms.

Speculations were rife that the film would premiere on OTT in the second week of February, coinciding with Valentine's Day. However, those reports have proven to be inaccurate. Netflix has secured the digital rights for Daku Maharaj, but an official streaming date remains undisclosed. The delay seems to stem from an agreement with the film’s producers, in compliance with the Producers Council's guideline that mandates a 50-day theatrical window before an OTT release.

Additionally, the film is set to release in multiple languages, including Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, apart from its original Telugu and Hindi versions. The ongoing dubbing process for these languages is another factor contributing to the postponement. Rumors also suggest that exclusive scenes may be added for the OTT version, further delaying its release.

As per industry buzz, Daku Maharaj is likely to debut on Netflix on March 4.

Directed by Bobby, the film features Pragya Jaiswal as the leading lady, with Bollywood actor Bobby Deol in a significant role. The ensemble cast includes Shraddha Srinath, Urvashi Rautela, and Rishi. The music, composed by SS Thaman, complements the grandeur of the film, which was produced by Naga Vamsi on a massive budget. With its phenomenal box office success, the film's arrival on OTT is expected to generate significant excitement among audiences.
